Representatives of the Biohazard Prevention Centre, University of ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ, participated in DUAL IMPACT – Forum of Dual-Use Technologies, held in ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ on 14–15 September.
With resilience, civil protection and preparedness for new security threats becoming increasingly important for cities and regions, the development and practical implementation of dual-use solutions at the local and regional level is more relevant than ever.
The Forum was a valuable opportunity to learn about current trends and solutions, exchange experience and, above all, discuss possibilities for strengthening cooperation within the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ region between public authorities, research institutions, security services and private companies.
For the Biohazard Prevention Centre, an important area of such cooperation is the possibility of transferring and adapting solutions developed and tested in European security projects to regional needs. This includes CBRN preparedness and response, protection of public spaces and critical infrastructure, adaptation of public spaces to new security requirements, different approaches to the evacuation and sheltering of people in public facilities, as well as the development and practical testing of procedures, technologies and training concepts.
The event was also an opportunity to share our experience from European projects and to establish contacts with regional institutions and companies with whom these solutions could be further developed, tested and implemented.
We look forward to further cooperation connecting European experience and solutions with the capabilities and needs of the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ region.
