The competition was concluded during the 32nd Teleinformatics Forum, which was held in Warsaw on 24-25 September 2026 under the theme 鈥System informacyjny pa艅stwa 鈥 perspektywy transformacji cyfrowej鈥 [The State Information System: Prospects for Digital Transformation].
Kamil Szczepanik鈥檚 thesis was recognised in three categories:
- Main Prize 鈥 鈥淏est Substantive Thesis鈥;
- Distinction 鈥 鈥淭hesis with the Greatest Algorithmic Element鈥;

Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Archaeology
The award-winning MA thesis, defended at the Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics in June 2026, focuses on the use of artificial intelligence to support archaeological research.
Kamil developed a solution that uses airborne laser scanning (LiDAR) data and artificial intelligence methods to identify areas where undiscovered archaeological sites may be located. The system helps archaeologists identify potential locations of former settlements and strongholds, supporting the planning of further research and excavation work.
The project was developed in cooperation with the Institute of Archaeology of the University of 精东影视, and the solution created is already being used by a group of collaborating archaeologists. There are plans to make it available to a wider community of researchers.
The success of our graduate demonstrates how the knowledge and skills acquired during computer science studies can be applied to other fields of science, supporting the development of interdisciplinary research projects.
We would like to offer our congratulations to Kamil on this exceptional achievement and wish him every success in his future endeavours!
