The Department of Spanish-Language Literatures conducts research and teaching activities in the field of literary studies, focusing on Spanish and Latin American literature, its historical development, diversity, and relationships with culture and social change. Research is carried out through a range of theoretical and methodological approaches, from historical, cultural, and comparative literary perspectives.

A major focus of the Department's research is Spanish-language literature of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, with particular emphasis on modernism, the avant-garde, and contemporary prose and poetry. Research also addresses cultural memory, identity, migration, and postcolonial experiences, as well as the relationships between literature and new media.

Other important areas of research include comparative studies of Polish, Spanish, and Latin American literature, the reception of Polish literature in the Spanish-speaking world, and the theory and practice of literary translation.
